Position Description

Assist the Chief Financial Officer in administering accounting functions for client insurance companies. Provide oversight for a staff of three in the client reporting unit; assist with the preparation and evaluation of budgets, forecasts and other financial operating reports; present findings and recommendations to senior management. The Director of Insurance Accounting will perform a variety of tasks and also lead and direct the work of others. The Director of Insurance Accounting is expected to rely on extensive experience and judgment to plan and accomplish goals. A wide degree of creativity and latitude is expected.

Position Requirements 

Training, Education and Experience
 Bachelor’s degree in Accounting plus an advanced degree or CPA/CMA designation is required
 Minimum of seven years’ accounting experience (of which 3 years are public accounting)
 Insurance experience preferred
 Use of Crystal reports preferred
 Management experience preferred
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
 Expert knowledge of accounting
 Solid written and verbal communication skills
 Solid cognitive ability, analytical skills, organization and recall
 Proven proficiency with Microsoft Excel and Word
 Ability to train and develop staff
 Ability to work in a fast-paced environment
 Ability to adapt to changes in the work environment
