Steve Miller – President & Chief Executive Officer

Stephen A. Miller

Mr. Miller joined Disability Management Services, Inc. (“DMS”) in 2002 as Vice President of Business Development and has since assumed the role of President and Chief Executive Officer for the company. In this role, he has responsibility for overall strategic planning and operations for the company. He was formerly Vice President in charge of Life Products & Services for Travelers Life & Annuity, a member of Citigroup. As head of the life insurance business, Mr. Miller had both top and bottom line responsibility, as well as operational management. Under Mr. Miller’s leadership, Travelers’ Life Insurance business grew 50% per year, making it one of the fastest growing Life companies in the insurance industry over a five-year period. Prior to running Travelers’ Life business, Mr. Miller headed up the company’s individual Disability Income line of business and was responsible for product development, marketing, field support and the overall profitability of the line.

Mr. Miller graduated Summa Cum Laude and Phi Beta Kappa from Trinity College with a BS in Engineering. He earned his MBA from the University of New Haven.


ACohen

Andrew J. Cohen – Secretary & General Counsel

Andrew J. Cohen, Esq.

Mr. Cohen joined Disability Management Services, Inc. (“DMS”) in July 1997 to create the company’s Law Department. As Secretary and General Counsel, he manages DMS’ legal, compliance and claim audit functions and many of DMS’ clients’ litigation and compliance responsibilities. He oversees many of DMS’ external consulting initiatives in the US and abroad. Mr. Cohen has overseen the Law Department’s growth to include five attorneys, a compliance paralegal, and claim auditors and legal assistants. Mr. Cohen is also a member of DMS’ Board of Directors.

Mr. Cohen graduated with honors from Tufts University with a BA in Economics and from the Georgetown University Law Center. Prior to joining DMS, Mr. Cohen was a member of the litigation departments of Dorsey & Whitney in Minneapolis, MN and Shipman & Goodwin in Hartford, CT.

Mr. Cohen is a member of several industry organizations and has presented at numerous industry and client seminars. He has also served as Chairman of the Board of Directors of Southend Community Services (n/k/a Our Piece of the Pie); a United Way affiliated non-profit organization in Hartford, CT, and as a board member of the Bushnell Park Foundation.

Eric S. Plasse – Chief Information Officer

Eric S. Plasse

Mr. Plasse joined Disability Management Services, Inc. (“DMS”) in January 2021 as Chief Information Officer with responsibility for the company’s Information Technology Department. Mr. Plasse also has the responsibility for DMS’ Office Operations. Prior to joining DMS, Mr. Plasse was the former Head of Enterprise Solution Delivery at National Life Group and Head of Technology Modernization at NEOS, LLC.. Eric brings over 20 years’ experience in technology solution delivery across insurance, financial services, manufacturing, and energy industries.

Mr. Plasse graduated from Saint Michael’s College with a BA in Economics. In addition, he completed an Executive Leadership Program from New York University, achieving a certificate in Strategic Thinking and Transformational Leadership. He also completed both Scrum Master and IT Service Management training.


Paul Ziobrowski - VP & Chief Actuary

Paul Ziobrowski, FSA, MAAA

Mr. Ziobrowski joined Disability Management Services, Inc. (“DMS”) as Chief Actuarial Officer in March 1998 and he was promoted to Vice President and Chief Actuary in October 2000. He is responsible for all day-to-day activities of DMS’ Actuarial Department including valuation, financial reporting, experience analysis, and reserve adequacy testing on behalf of DMS’ clients.

Prior to joining DMS, Mr. Ziobrowski was employed by the MONY Life Insurance Company from 1990 to 1998, most recently in the position of Assistant Vice President and Health Actuary and he was responsible for oversight of all actuarial functions for MONY’s individual disability income business including valuation, financial reporting, product development, reinsurance, experience studies, and strategic planning for the line. He previously held positions at New England Financial and Farm Family Life Insurance Company and he became a Member of the American Academy of Actuaries in 1988 and a Fellow of the Society of Actuaries in 1991.

Mr. Ziobrowski earned a Bachelor of Science degree from the State University of New York at Albany, majoring in mathematics. He is a member of the Society of Actuaries Individual Disability Experience Committee core group and is a past member of the Society of Actuaries Education and Examination Committee.

Timothy J. O’Connor – Vice President, Claim Operations

Timothy J. O’Connor

Mr. O’Connor joined Disability Management Services, Inc. (“DMS”) in 1995 and currently serves as the Vice President of Claims with responsibility for the day-to-day management and oversight of DMS’ Claim Operations.  Mr. O’Connor also oversees DMS’ Medical Unit, Vocational Rehabilitation Services Unit, Appeals Unit and Field Investigative Services. Mr. O’Connor started his career in the disability insurance industry in 1991 managing disability claims for Monarch Life Insurance Company.  His insurance experience includes similar roles in the Claim Operations of Massachusetts Mutual Life Insurance Company and Travelers Life & Annuity. 

Mr. O’Connor has presented on behalf of several industry organizations including the New England Claim Association, LIMRA International and the Massachusetts Association of Contributory Retirement Systems. In addition to his extensive consulting experience, Mr. O’Connor has been an active instructor for various DMS client companies, providing specialized training in Disability Claims Management. He has consulted extensively with numerous insurance and reinsurance clients.

Mr. O’Connor holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Finance from Colorado University, a Master’s Degree in Business Administration from American International College, and is licensed in the State of New York as an Independent Insurance Adjuster.

Jennifer E. Johnson  Vice President, Underwriting/New Business & Policyholder Services

Jennifer E. Johnson, FLMI, DIA, ACS, LTCP

Ms. Johnson joined Disability Management Services, Inc. (“DMS”) in 1997 and currently serves as Vice President of Underwriting/New Business and Client Services. In this role, she has responsibility for the day-to-day management and oversight of the Client Services and Underwriting Teams, as well as the Syracuse Operation. Ms. Johnson is the DMS liaison to our client companies and field force for all ongoing business and cross-product line coordination.  She also supports the implementation of DMS’ large scale conversions.

Ms. Johnson started her career in the disability insurance industry at MONY Life Insurance Company.  At MONY, she held various positions in Policy Change, Policy Issue, New Product Implementation, Actuarial, Business Analysis, Programming and Project Management giving her a varied and solid foundation of experience in service, product, and project management.

Ms. Johnson is a Fellow of the Life Management Institute. She attended Bryant and Stratton Business Institute In Syracuse, New York, majoring in Accounting and Analysis and Design.
